Val-A-Grams for sale

The Prom committee is selling Val-A-Grams to raise money for prom.  The Val-A-Grams cost $1.00.  Your Val-A-Gram, along with a bag of cookies wil be delivered to your special someone on Valentines Day.  See a prom committee member or Mrs. Sherrod at break, lunch, or after school to order yours today!

Bonfire Scheduled for Friday Night

All SHJHS students and St. Mary's 8th graders are invited to the Bonfire on Friday, February 10th.  We will meet at SHJ after our baskeball games.  Pizza will be provided.  Dress warm and come ready to have fun.

SHJHS Journalism Class Launches Online Newspaper

This week the SHJHS journalism class is launching our very own online school newspaper, The Knight Times.  As of today, there are a few articles on there, but it will be fully launched by Wednesday of this week.  It will be updated regularly with news and goings-on at SHJHS.  The articles will be written by the students in Mrs. Sherrod's journalism class and cover school news, some community news, entertainment (such as book & movie reviews), and many other items.  If you would like to submit a story idea to the newspaper, you may do so by emailing it to knight.times@shjhs.org.  Please feel free to go ahead and check out the new online newspaper by going to TheKnightTimes.org.

Lady Knights Win Liberty Shootout

The Lady Knights had a big week last week improving their record to 6-3.  Their week ended by bringing home the Liberty Shootout Tournament Championship; a school first!  The Lady Knights square off against the JCM Cougars this Thursday at 4pm.

Homecoming Week at SHJHS

Activities are planned for every day during Homecoming Week. Classes will compete for the Homecoming Spirit Award. Points will be given based on the percentage of class participation in various events. There will be daily winners and a class chosen as the Overall Homecoming Spirit Winner. If students choose NOT TO DRESS UP in the given daily theme, they MUST wear their school uniform.

 

Monday - Decade Day

Each class has selected a specific decade they will be using.

Monday night at 6:30 p.m. there will be a special showing of the movie “Sleeping Beauty” at SHJHS. Refreshments will be provided.

TuesdayTwin Day

Wednesday Champions’ Day

Jeans and SHJHS T-shirt

Students are to report to school at the regular time then they will be traveling to the Fairgrounds to assist with Champions’ Day again this year. You must return Permission Slips. Parents are needed to drive.

Following Champions’ Day activities, students will return to school for a fun day of class competitions. Lunch is provided on Wednesday.

Students will be staying after school to decorate the doors with their chosen themes.

ThursdayGrandma/Grandpa Day

Friday Spirit Day

Students must wear School Uniform to Mass. When they return to school, they may change to sports uniform or school T-shirt. They may also bring face paint. There will be a short pep rally at the end of the day.

The homecoming football game is Friday at 5 p.m. with the presentation of the homecoming court and crowning of the homecoming queen at 4:30.

Penny Wars

Students will be participating in a Penny Wars Competition beginning Tuesday. Each class will have a bucket for collecting coins or bills.

Sept 2nd Game Time Changed

The Football game on Friday, Sept 2nd will begin at 5:00 pm to allow for enough daylight to finish the game.

THIS WEEK IN SPORTS

Cross Country, Girls Soccer and Football will compete this week.  Cross Country travels to Trenton Peabody today for their first meet, while our Lady Knights Soccer Team gear up to face a tough opponent in the Madison Academic Mustangs on Thursday at Hollywood Field.  The Lady Knights come into the game with a  1-1 record and look to improve to over .500.  Friday, our Football team takes on Webb Academy and looks to improve their record to 2-2. 

KNIGHTS WIN BIG!!!

Joey Pappis and Jacob Westphal lead the Knights running attack with a combined 156 yards as SHJHS defeat Jackson Prep by a score of 40-6.  Westphal scored 3 touchdowns, while Pappis scored 2 touchdowns and 3 2-point conversions.  Lee Alan Maxwell rounded out the scoring for the Knights with a 3 yard run. 
 
SHJHS will host Central Baptist High School next Friday, August 19 at 5:30pm.
